This long weekend has started with a light rain.
I know it will be fine in the afternoon.
In the morning I enjoyed a mandolin concert.
I've just come back to my apartment to have lunch.
In the afternoon I am going to attend the lecture
about the future of Japan.
I hope it will not be very difficult.
The lecturer is Masanori Nakamura, professor emeritus
at Hitotsubashi University.

The weather forecast has proved to be wrong.
It was expected to be a cloudy day.
I was surprised to see the blue sky
flecked with white clouds.
I've just been to Harmonica Circle
at a community center.
We are having a festival at the community
center at the weekend.
We are going to play 4 songs on the harmonica.
I hope everything will go all right.

I am so glad to know that three Japanese scientists
were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for 2008.
They are Yoichiro Nambu, Makoto Kobayashi
and Toshihide Maskawa.
I hope receiving 2008 Nobel Prize for Physics will
have some good effect on young Japanese boys and girls.
I hope they will be interested in the study of science.
Each of the three winners seems to be a bit embarrassed.
But I feel so happy they were awarded the Nobel Prize.
Let me say---Congratulations!

Today Ms. M and I visited Showa Kinen Park.
This was my third visit this year.
I arranged to meet Ms. M at Tachikawa Station on Chuo Line.
We walked from there to Showa Kinen Park.
Many people were walking in the same direction.
Showa Kinen Park was crowded with families.
Showa Kinen Park was vibrant with life.
Wow! Today everybody was admitted free!
Ms. M bought two picnic lunches at Tokyo Station
and brought them to Showa Kinen Park.
We sat on the grass and had a delicious lunch.

What a beautiful day!
The sun shines bright.
The skies are blue.
koharu looks fine.
koharu doesn't have a fever.
In the morning I went to a community center
and practiced playing the harmonica with the members
of Thursday Harmonica Circle.
I had lunch at an Italian restaurant with them.
Then we visited a special nursing home for the aged.
We played 15 songs on the harmonica there.
They sang those songs to our harmonica.
An old lady said with tears in her eyes that those songs
brought her back to good old days.
I like harmonica-volunteering.
I thank them for enjoying our harmonica.
I had a very happy autumn day.

Today is o-higan, Autumn Equinox Day.
I remember my mother used to cook o-hagi for us.
Yes, her o-hagi was very delicious.
When I was in Niigata, a friend of mine always cooked
o-hagi for me.
She was very good at cooking.
She was always so kind as to help me when I had
no appetite and could not cook for my daughter.
I used to put her o-hagi on my altar.
o-hagi was my husband's favorite!
Oh, how much I miss them all!

Yesterday, I got out of my apartment at the sound
of some cheerful sound outside.
It was a sacred parade of o-mikoshi.
An o-mikoshi was being carried along the street
of tamagawa-josui.--in front of my apartment.
The o-mikoshi was carried on the shoulders of many men.
It was really an exciting and lively sight.

koharu's mother was busy today.
So I took koharu to K Sports Club.
Every Wednesday koharu attends its swimming class
after school.
koharu's ear doctor permitted her to swim last summer.
How happy she felt!
koharu likes swimming very much.
koharu is now learning to swim the crawl.
koharu managed to swim 25 meters.
I am sure swimming will be good for her weak legs.
Yes, koharu's legs are getting stronger, though she
often falls down so easily.
It was already dark. when we came home.
koharu and I stopped to see sunflowers on the way home.
Sunflowers were smiling even in the dark.
(koharu is singing the song of "gake no ue no ponyo."

Today I woke up at five o'clock in the morning.
I was listening to the radio until six.
Then I got up, had breakfast and took medicine
for high blood pressure.
OK--everything is ready!
I left my apartment for the station.
Ms.Y and I enjoyed climbing Mt. Shiroyama.
It is 671 meters high.
We enjoyed the autumn air in the mountain.
We enjoyed walking, talking and eating.
We had a wonderful time.
Thank you for climbing with me, Ms.Y.
