The turnout--69.27%--is the highest
since the new election system was introduced
in 1996.
The Democratic Party of Japan won the election --308 seats,
while the Liberal Democratic Party 119 seats.
The DPJ-led Cabinet is said to be formed around September 14.
Who knows the DPJ's ability to govern?
I hope they will do better than the LDP-Komeito coalition.
I hope the LDP will be a constructive and responsible opposition
party.
A heavy rain is beating against the windowpanes of my room.
Typhoon No.11 is coming to Tokyo.
I hope it will not cause any damage.

(Hachiman-tai Plateau, Akita and Iwate)
I stood on the observation platform in the parking area.
If you want to go to the top of Hachiman-tai Plateau,
you'll start from here.
Oh! How I wish I could! No, the day will never come to me.

I saw beautiful evening glow from the Shinkansen for Tokyo.

(Lake Ohnuma, Hachiman-tai Plateau, in Akita)
I enjoyed walking around the Lake Ohnuma.
Autumn breeze was blowing there.

(Suiren-numa Pond, Hakkoda Mountain in Aomori)
My bus ran and ran for Suiren-numa Pond.
I was been looking out of the window all the way there.
A range of Hakkoda mountains made me feel lonely.
Autumn had already come there.

(Oirase Keiryu in Aomori)
The hotel where I stayed was beside the Oirase-keiryu.
Its name was Oirase Keiryu Hotel.
I got up early the next morning and enjoyed walking along
the river.
How clean and clear!

(Lake Towada in Aomori)
Around 3 o'clock in the afternoon, my bus started
for Lake Towada.
A light rain was falling when I stood before 'Statue of Maidens',
the last sculpture by Kohtaro Takamura.
I remembered the day I watched the statue with my dear husband
---43 years ago.
Oh, what a long way I've come without him!
