koharu, my 10-year-old granddaughter, attended
a workshop making a radio.
The workshop was offered on the first day of her summer
vacation by NICT,情報通信研究機構,National Institute
of Information and Communications Technology.
koharu was excited to listen to the news on the radio,
her own handmade radio.
She put the earphone into my ear and tuned in to some program.
Wow! I was also excited when I heard English on her handmade
radio.
Yes, it was a real radio!
The radio is now her treasure and is put on the table
by her bedside.

It has been too hot to feel an appetite these days.
Ms M is always very busy but yesterday she had
nothing particular to do, she said.
So we met at Tokyo Station at half past five,
went to Ginza-Daimasu, one of our favorite restaurants.
and enjoyed dinner.
I was surprised that I had a good appetite!
Delicious dishes with a glass of wine gave me an appetite.
I had a very good evening with Ms M.
Thank you, M-san.
I came back to my apartment at nine.
I walked 10413 steps yesterday.
(This table overlooks the main street of Ginza.
We like this table best.)

While walking in the severe summer heat,
I was humming to myself, "hot-hotter-hottest."
What are you doing so as to forget the heat?
I'm trying to enjoy this summer heat by sweating all over.
I suppose I am all right when I am sweating.
I am very grateful to be in good health
even in the hottest summer.

Time flies more quickly in Niigata than in Tokyo.
I enjoyed busy but happy days in Niigata.
I visited my husband's grave and thanked him
for being always with us ---with my daughter and me.
My house is located near the Japan Sea.
I saw a glorious sunset around 19:00 on July 17.

One of my friends entered hospital today.
She looked all right last Friday.
Her daughter told me that she had been ill
since Monday.
She had a fever of 38.5℃.
She felt tired and sluggish.
She walked in an unsteady way.
Her comments sometimes seemed unusual,
her daughter said.
I hope nothing is wrong with her heart or brain.
I hope she will soon come back to me.
Wild grasses looked splendid
Wild grasses looked strong.
Wild grasses told me to be strong.
I'm going home to Niigata tomorrow
after attending Friday English class.
I'm going to visit my husband's grave.
See you next week.

Yesterday koharu's mother was very busy,
so I myself took koharu to swimming school.
She is now a very good swimmer.
She was born with some trouble with her muscle.
Her neck was unsteady and did not sustain her head.
Her doctor said the day would not come for her to walk.
Now koharu can walk, though she often falls down
and hurt herself.
Now koharu can run, though not quickly.
Her leg muscles are getting stronger, I'm sure.
koharu was born with ear trouble too.
koharu underwent an operation for her ear twice.
Everything went well with koharu.
koharu is getting stronger each day in mind and body.
Yesterday on the way to the swimming school,
koharu told me about her dream in the future.
koharu told me to live and see her dream come true.
What a kind girl koharu is!
